The Team

Based one block away from Hobart's iconic waterfront, the Nutrition and Dietetics service is comprised of Dietitians, Allied Health Assistants and Administrative staff working together and within multi-disciplinary teams to provide an excellent service to inpatients and outpatients of the Royal Hobart Hospital, Tasmania's only tertiary care facility. The service covers a full range of clinical speciality areas and supports a mix of senior and early-career roles.

The Role

The Discipline Lead - Nutrition and Dietetics Service will:

- Provide leadership and direction for Hospitals South Nutrition and Dietetics Service, in line with our values of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.
- Work as a member of the Allied Health Services leadership team to ensure that the community has access to excellent care that is responsive to current needs and preparing for the future.

You will need to

- Provide leadership and direction for Hospitals South Nutrition and Dietetics Service, including strategic planning and development; and implementation of protocols, procedures and reporting mechanisms.
- Coordinate the management of human resources including recruitment; performance management; staff development; succession planning and change management to ensure efficient and effective service delivery according to the needs of the community and in line with DoH strategic direction.
- Be an active member of the Allied Health Advisory Committee and represent Allied Health as required.
- Promote excellence in clinical practice and clinical governance, providing high level representation for the Dietetic discipline and coordination of professional support.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker, working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

- $154,665 to $156,671 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2025

Salary Packaging

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances

In addition, the position receives a Professional Development Allowance of $1200 per annum plus travel expenses to attend PD events.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

- Approved Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent from a University or other tertiary institution majoring in appropriate subjects and a graduate diploma or post graduate degree course in dietetics of one or two years, or an approved undergraduate degree majoring in nutrition and dietetics at a recognised Australian tertiary institution, or a pass in the Dietetics Association of Australia (DAA) examination in dietetics for overseas trained Dietitians

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

- Current Driver’s Licence
- Post-graduate qualifications in management, health administration or similar
