Position Profile: We are currently seeking to appoint a Peer Worker – Lived Experience.
Drawing on their personal lived experience of navigating mental illness and recovery as either a consumer, family member/carer/significant other, the Peer Worker, as a non-clinical specialist member of the mental health/alcohol and other drug (AOD) multidisciplinary team, provides high quality, recovery orientated services with consumers and/or their support persons to assist in their recovery. Drawing on their personal lived experience of mental illness, the Peer Worker engages purposefully with consumers and their support persons, providing hope, support and system navigation expertise throughout the patient journey. The Peer Worker also advises the health service on lived experience perspectives and contributes to the continued learning of staff on partnering with consumers and trauma informed care.
