Disability Support Worker – Portland

CarePro is seeking compassionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team in Portland, Victoria.

We currently have opportunities to support two participants with different support needs, including a young adult seeking to build independence and community participation, and a child requiring in-home support, community access and assistance with school-related activities.

This is a rewarding opportunity for support workers who are passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of people with disability.

About the Participants

Participant 1 – Young Adult

We are seeking a confident and positive support worker to support a 20-year-old male participant with:

- Accessing the community and participating in activities

- Building independence and confidence

- Developing daily living and social skills

- Attending appointments, activities and community events

- Developing greater independence in the community

- Encouraging choice, decision-making and self-direction

- Supporting the participant to achieve their individual NDIS goals

The successful worker will be someone who can build a positive professional relationship while encouraging independence rather than creating unnecessary dependence.

Participant 2 – Child

We are also seeking an experienced and caring support worker to support a child with disability/special needs.

Support may include:

- In-home disability support

- Assistance with daily routines and activities

- Supporting the child to develop independence and life skills

- Assistance with schoolwork and educational activities

- Supporting communication and social development

- Community access and participation when required

- Supporting family routines and agreed activities

- Following the participant's support plan and any relevant behaviour or safety strategies

- Providing a safe, respectful and positive environment





Experience working with children with disability or additional needs will be highly regarded.

About You

- Willing to complete required training

Experience supporting people with disability, psychosocial disability, autism, intellectual disability or complex support needs will be highly regarded.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must be able to provide evidence of the following:

- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check/Clearance

- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC)

- Current National Police Check

- Current First Aid Certificate

- Current CPR Certificate

- Relevant disability support qualification, such as Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent

- Relevant experience working with people with disability

- Current Australian driver's licence

- Reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance where required for community access

- Current CV/resume

- Evidence of relevant qualifications and certificates

- Right to work in Australia

NDIS worker screening clearances are valid for up to five years, subject to ongoing status and monitoring.

Highly Desirable

The following will be highly regarded:

- Experience supporting children with disability or additional needs





- Experience supporting people with autism or intellectual disability

- Experience with community access

- Experience supporting young adults to develop independence

- Experience assisting children with schoolwork

- Mental health support experience

- Behaviour support experience

- Experience implementing participant support plans

- Medication training, where relevant to the participant

- Positive Behaviour Support training

- Experience working within the NDIS setting

- Previous experience working for a registered NDIS provider

Availability
