We are looking for a friendly and reliable Café / Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Mount Waverley. The role involves assisting with food preparation, meal and beverage service, cleaning and general kitchen duties while providing a welcoming experience for our clients.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen workplace, preparing and serving food, and interacting with older people and members of the Polish community.

About the role

As a Café / Kitchen Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operation of our kitchen and café, helping to ensure meals and refreshments are prepared and served to a high standard.

Your duties will include:

- Assisting with food preparation and basic cooking
- Preparing and serving meals, snacks, tea and coffee
- Setting up and clearing tables
- Washing dishes and maintaining clean kitchen equipment
- Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen, café and food preparation areas
- Assisting with receiving, storing and rotating food supplies
- Following food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures
- Assisting with catering for meetings, activities and community events
- Supporting the kitchen team with general duties as required
- Providing friendly and respectful service to clients, visitors and staff

About you

- Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
- Respectful and compassionate when working with older people
- Physically able to perform general kitchen duties, including standing for extended periods
- Previous café, kitchen, catering or hospitality experience is highly desirable , but we will consider applicants who have the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Polish language skills would be an advantage.
