Canberra ACT | Hybrid | Long-term Contract + Extension | Federal Government
We are seeking experienced .NET Developers for contract opportunities with a major Australian Federal Government agency in Canberra.
You will join a large ICT setting supporting the modernisation, enhancement and ongoing delivery of enterprise and business-critical applications. The roles will suit developers with strong C#/.NET experience who are comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment.
The Role
As a .NET Developer, you will work within an established project team to uplift existing applications and deliver new enhancements and improvements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop and enhance C#/.NET enterprise applications
- Backend development using Web APIs and SQL technologies
- Work with both .NET Framework and modern .NET
- Develop and maintain automated build and deployment scripts
- Participate across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Work within Agile delivery teams using Azure DevOps
- Develop well-designed, documented, maintainable and testable code
- Conduct peer reviews of code, scripts and technical deliverables
- Support cloud-based application development and modernisation
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application and production issues
- Work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and geographically dispersed teams
- Contribute to technical analysis, solution design and continuous improvement
Skills & Experience

- C# and .NET development

- SQL and backend technologies
- Cloud-based application development
- Automated build and deployment scripting
- Azure DevOps
- Agile software development methodologies
- Full SDLC delivery
- Technical analysis and problem solving
- Writing well-designed, documented and testable code
- Code and peer reviews
- Stakeholder engagement and communication
- MS Office and collaboration/project tools such as Miro or similar
Experience with integration design and end-to-end solution development will be highly regarded.
A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline is desirable.
Contract Details
Location: Canberra, ACT
Working arrangement: Hybrid, subject to agency approval
Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
Expected commencement: 5 October 2026
Initial contract: Through to 30 June 2027
Extension: Up to an additional 12 months
Level: APS6 equivalent
Security Clearance
Candidates must hold an active NV1 security clearance prior to commencement .
Applicants must also meet the Australian Government security and citizenship requirements applicable to the engagement.
