About The Opportunity
Scone is a picturesque rural hospital offering the services and amenities of a larger facility while providing the close-knit atmosphere of a rural community. Scone Hospital has a mixed medical/surgical ward, operating theatre, maternity unit, Emergency Department and onsite medical imaging, providing opportunities to broaden your clinical skills across a diverse range of presentations. Located just over three hours north of Sydney, Scone is within easy reach of Newcastle, Maitland and the Central Coast, with Tamworth and Armidale to the north and a stunning rural landscape to explore.
You'll join a diverse team with a broad range of skills and strengths and opportunities to develop your career. The successful applicant will be supported by an onsite Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) and Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), with a supported orientation and opportunities to upskill through further education and training.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Registered Nurse within the Emergency Department, you will provide safe, high-quality and person-centred care to patients presenting with a diverse range of clinical needs.
Working within your scope of practice and as part of a supportive team, you will:
- Undertake the triage and assessment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Provide timely and effective emergency nursing care and treatment.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to deteriorating patients.
- Manage patient care throughout their Emergency Department journey.
- Facilitate appropriate discharge, transfer or admission processes.
- Work collaboratively with Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, Student Nurses, medical staff and the broader multidisciplinary team.
- Provide support to the inpatient ward and other areas of the facility when required.
- Assist across other departments during periods of lower Emergency Department activity.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to safe, effective patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education, professional development and competency programs.

About You
Our ideal candidate is an experienced and confident Emergency Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a dynamic rural environment and is committed to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
You will have a minimum of 12 months' clinical nursing experience and demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team while managing a diverse emergency patient load.
The Successful Candidate Will Ideally Bring
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Experience working within an Emergency Department.
- Emergency nursing qualifications or demonstrated emergency nursing experience.
- Experience in triage and the application of ECAT protocols.
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills.
- Sound clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- The ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to the wider team.
- A willingness to undertake further education, training and competency development.
- A flexible approach and willingness to support other areas of the hospital when required.
