Health & Safety Advisor - Decommissioning

18 month contract | FIFO Offshore

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Adviser to support a major energy sector decommissioning project. Based in Melbourne, you will provide practical HSE leadership, assurance and advisory support across offshore, marine and onshore decommissioning activities.

Working closely with project teams, line leaders and contractors, you will help manage critical risks, verify controls, support regulatory compliance and promote a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide HSE leadership, coaching and field-based safety support across project activities.
- Develop and deliver risk-based assurance activities and verify critical controls.
- Conduct site inspections and support incident investigations, reporting and learning.
- Facilitate HAZID, SIMOPS, constructability and task risk assessments.
- Provide advice on process safety, occupational health, human factors and psychosocial risks.
- Support emergency preparedness, readiness reviews and contractor assurance.
- Support regulatory inspections,



audits and engagement.
- Analyse HSE trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with contractors, project teams and other key stakeholders to influence positive safety outcomes.

About You

- 5+ years' Health & Safety experience in energy, resources, construction, marine or another high-hazard industry.
- Solid experience in risk management, contractor assurance, incident investigation and field safety leadership.
- Strong communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel to offshore, marine and onshore sites.
- Relevant HSE, engineering, science or related qualification is desirable.
- Decommissioning experience is highly regarded, particularly offshore facilities, wells, subsea, marine spreads, dismantling or waste/disposal activities.
- Experience with safety cases, regulatory engagement and late-life asset transition is advantageous.
