This role is suited to an engineer with strong systems thinking, hands-on technical depth, and experience delivering high-reliability navigation and timing solutions. In addition,
the PNT Engineer provides technical input and subject matter expertise during proposal, capture, and tender phases. In this role, you will be responsible for: Systems Engineering & Architecture - Gather, analyse and formalise internal and external stakeholders' needs relating to resilient PNT systems. - Define end-to-end PNT system architectures integrating GNSS, INS, IMUs, aiding sensors (odometers, altimeters, computer vision), atomic clocks, time servers and Navwar software. - Develop and maintain PNT architecture, design, and interface documentation, including SAD, SSDD, and interface control documentation. - Develop simulation environments to characterize PNT solution performance and robustness. PNT Engineering - Knowledge on Safran's Inertial Navigation product lines (INS, IMU, gyroscope and accelerometer sensors), address questions and provide training to customers and industry partners. - Knowledge on Safran's Timing product lines (clocks, time servers), address questions and provide training to customers and industry partners. - Design, integrate and support PNT solutions for trials, demonstrations and trade shows, including inertial navigation, PPS generation, UTC traceability, clock disciplining, and holdover strategies. - Support alternative and complementary PNT techniques, including inertial-only navigation, terrain aiding, celestial navigation, and signals of opportunity. - Contribute to assured PNT strategies for operation in GNSS degraded or contested environments. **But what else? (advantages, specificities, etc.)** In this role, you will be responsible for: (continued) GNSS and Navwar Engineering - Knowledge on Safran's GNSS product lines (receivers, antenna, interference detection and mitigation software), address questions and provide training to customers and industry partners. - Design, integrate, and support GNSS receivers, antenna and simulation solutions for trials, demonstrations and trade shows, including single and dual frequency and multi-constellation systems (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, etc). - Analyse GNSS signal structures, propagation effects,
and error mechanisms with Safran's Navwar software SKYDEL. - Support compliance with relevant GNSS, navigation, and timing standards. - Design and support mitigation strategies against GNSS jamming, spoofing, and interference. Verification, Validation & Test - Define verification strategies, test plans, and acceptance criteria for PNT systems and functions. - Establish and maintain Verification Cross-Reference Matrices (VCRM). - Plan, execute, and support verification activities including Acceptance Test Plans (ATP), Acceptance Test Procedures (ATProcs), and Acceptance Test Reports (ATR). - Support laboratory, field-, and flight-testing activities. - Analyse test data and validate navigation and timing performance against system requirements. - Produce technical reports, compliance evidence, and verification documentation. **Candidate skills & requirements** To be successful in this role you must have: - Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechatronics, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or related discipline). - Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, including requirements management, system architecture, integration, and verification and validation (IV&V;). - Hands-on experience with GNSS, INS, IMUs, sensor fusion, and supporting laboratory, field, and or flight testing. - Familiarity with Defence acquisition frameworks such as ASDEFCON and experience with safety- or mission-critical systems in regulated environments is highly desirable. SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance.
