HOTA, Home of the Arts Precinct

This role will be based at HOTA, Home of the Arts. HOTA is an iconic Gold Coast destination where art, entertainment, culture and lifestyle meet. A place that locals love and visitors must-see. HOTA offers a diverse suite of venues and facilities, including a gallery, outdoor stage, indoor theatres and cinemas, function and events rooms, as well as a range of food and beverage venues including the HOTA Café, the rooftop Exhibitionist Bar and three hat Palette Restaurant.

At the heart of HOTA's identity is a rich and diverse program: live music, theatre, dance, comedy, film, visual art exhibitions, children's shows, community workshops, and festivals - all taking place across the array of venues.

About the Role
n
The Maintenance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, compliance, and operational reliability of HOTA precinct assets, facilities, and infrastructure. The role delivers hands-on maintenance services while coordinating contractors, managing asset and maintenance systems, and supporting compliance, WHS corrective actions, and long-term asset planning. The position ensures precinct buildings, plant, equipment, and systems are safe, functional, and fit for purpose, supporting a high-quality experience for staff, visitors, and stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities
n
Duties include, but are not limited to:
n
Operations & Service Delivery
n
Perform routine, preventative, and reactive maintenance across precinct buildings, plant, equipment, and infrastructure.
n
Carry out inspections, identify defects,
complete minor repairs, and respond to maintenance issues.
n
Ensure facilities and assets remain safe, compliant, and operational.
n
Support precinct opening and closing procedures, including building readiness checks.
n
Complete maintenance tasks arising from inspections, incidents, and workplace safety requirements.
n
Prioritise and complete maintenance work in line with operational needs.
n
Comply with organisational policies, procedures, and WHS requirements.
n
Undertake other duties as directed by the Director, Operations & Facilities.
n
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
n
Coordinate contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with site requirements.
n
Liaise with internal teams to schedule and deliver maintenance works.
n
Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, contractors, regulatory authorities, and precinct partners, including the City of Gold Coast.
n
Administration & Asset Management
n
Prepare purchase orders and maintain contractor documentation.
n
Keep accurate maintenance records, asset registers, servicing logs, and compliance documentation.
n
Provide administrative support to the Assets & Facilities function.
n
Support asset-related onboarding/offboarding and provide first-line support for operational equipment.
n
Systems & Reporting
n
Maintain asset management and maintenance systems, including work orders and asset records.
n
Conduct audits of equipment, vehicles, and operational assets.
n
Prepare reports on maintenance activities, asset condition, compliance, and contractor performance.
n
Assist with testing and reporting of building and safety systems.
n
Support preventative maintenance programs and asset lifecycle planning.
n
Recommend asset renewals, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
n
Contribute to the development of maintenance policies, procedures, and processes.
n
Identify opportunities to improve systems, service delivery, and asset reliability.
n
What We're Looking For
n
Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience in maintenance or facilities management.
n
Demonstrated experience in building, plant, and equipment maintenance.
n
Experience coordinating contractors and service providers.
n
Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and asset registers.
n
Strong organisational, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
n
Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
n
Experience using maintenance or asset management systems (desirable).
n
Ability to work across a 7-day operation as required.
n
Valid driver's licence.
n
