Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Sterilisation Laboratory Assistant - Environmental, Geological and Biological Sciences to join Faculty Operations, Faculty of Science. As a member of a small team in the Central Sterilising and Service Facility (CSSF), the Sterilisation Laboratory Assistant provides high quality, efficient and professional technical support to QUT staff and students in alignment with policies and procedures to enable efficient support of research and engagement activities. The Sterilisation Laboratory Assistant role delivers essential support to staff within the Environmental, Geological and Biological Sciences Technical Services team to achieve effective, safe, and sustainable operations for the Central Sterilising Service Facility (CSSF). This position is required to develop effective working relationships across a broad range of faculty and university communities, as well as contributing to the ongoing improvement of work processes.

- Environmental, Geological and Biological Sciences technical support team
- Chemistry and Physical Sciences technical support team
- Space, Assets, Logistics and Technology support team Faculty Operations is led by the Director of Operations and is supported by the Faculty Finance Manager and the Technical Services & Space Manager.
What You Need To Succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a Certificate III in Sterilisation Services; or completion of Year 12 with relevant work experience in a laboratory, preferably in a research and teaching setting.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills including the ability to connect and collaborate with a range of diverse groups and work effectively within a team in a demanding and fast paced environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, particularly for the capture of electronic records, with digital literacy skills in a variety of software packages including the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to undertake repeated day to day operations including general housekeeping duties and administrative functions, including the removal of Clinical waste, completing stock takes and maintaining the supply of consumables.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and coordinate activities relevant to the day-to-day operations of the Sterilisation facility.
- Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory Health and Safety or comparable workplace, with an ability to incorporate these principles in day-to-day tasks.
