Bar Manager – Canberra

We’re a high‑energy, up‑and‑coming venue in Phillip, and we’re on the lookout for a sharp, driven Bar Manager to take the reins. With an approximate 200‑capacity space and a massive weekend crowd, we’ve built a young, hungry crew that genuinely enjoys the hustle. The atmosphere is fast‑paced, the community vibe is real, and we need a leader who can step onto the floor, match that energy, and keep the standard high.

What you’ll be responsible for:

- Leading, training and developing the bar teams
- Creating genuine connections with guests and delivering extraordinary experiences
- Maintaining exceptional service and product standards
- Driving cocktail and beverage quality and consistency
- Managing bar operations, stock control and ordering
- Rostering and managing labour effectively
- Supporting menu development and beverage innovation
- Driving sales and controlling beverage costs
- Creating a positive, high‑performance team culture

What we want from you:

- Solid leadership experience in a busy pub or high‑volume bar environment
- A natural knack for managing people – you know how to motivate a younger team, keep morale high, and handle floor drama with ease
- An ACT RSA and Approved Manager notice (or the ability to grab one quickly)
- A genuine passion for people and hospitality




- Robust leadership and people‑management skills
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of bar costs and margins
- The ability to remain calm and organised under pressure
- High standards and attention to detail
- The confidence to lead a team and hold people accountable

The Pay: $80,000 per year

Employment Details

Full‑time, permanent position. Works a flexible 7‑day rotating roster with availability for evenings, weekends and peak trading periods.

Annual salary $75,000 – $90,000 based on experience, plus super.
