Lake Macquarie City Council are looking for motivated and reliable people to join ourWaste Operations team at the Awaba Waste Management Facility.
n
This is a practical, hands-on role where you will be outdoors, operating machinery, helping customers and working as part of a team to keep our waste facility running safely and efficiently.
n
You will be doing work that has a direct impact on our community and environment, helping people dispose of waste responsibly, recover reusable materials and keep Lake Macquarie clean, safe and sustainable.
n
We welcome people with experience in construction, labouring, transport, logistics, landscaping, agriculture, plant operation, customer service or other hands-on operational environments.
n

What You'll Be Doing
n
Your days will be varied. You may be:
n
n
- Assisting customers with waste disposal and recycling
n
- Directing traffic and maintaining safe vehicle movements
n
- Operating plant and equipment
n
- Weighbridge and gatehouse operations
n
- Sorting recyclable and reusable materials
n
- Maintaining site safety and cleanliness
n
- Working across different operational areas of the facility
n
n
This is an active, hands-on role where you will be on your feet, working outdoors and around vehicles, machinery and members of the public. No day is the same.

We're looking for people who are reliable, practical and ready to get involved.
n
You will take pride in doing a job well, understand the importance of working safely and be comfortable working around machinery, vehicles and members of the public.
n
You'll also be a confident communicator who can provide friendly and professional customer service, even when the environment is busy.
n
You can work independently, but you also enjoy being part of a team and are willing to pitch in wherever you're needed.

Most importantly, you'll bring a positive attitude, willingness to learn and a genuine can-do approach.

You will bring:

- A current MR Driver Licence or willingness to obtain
n
- Basic computer skills
n
- Effective communication and customer service skills
n
- A strong commitment to workplace safety
n
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
n
- Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain
n
- Most of all you welcome any challenge with a positive work ethic and a 'can-do' attitude!
n
n
Highly regarded but not essential:

- HR Licence
n
- Weighbridge or cash handling experience
n
n

- Competitive salary from $69,920 to $81,259 per year plus 12% superannuation
n
- Rotating weekend roster opportunities with applicable penalty rates
n
- Commencing salary set in line with skills and experience with annual reviews available to support movement through the salary range

- Plus, adverse working conditions and travel allowance
n
- 35-hour working week with 4 days on, 3 days off roster
n
