About us

n

James Neil Medical is a long-established, independently owned general practice in South Toowoomba. We're a genuinely non-corporate clinic — decisions get made in the building, not by a head office in another state. We have six GPs and registrars consulting and we're an accredited RACGP teaching practice.

n

Around a third of our patients come from Toowoomba's Yezidi, Kurdish and Arabic-speaking communities, many of them refugee background. We have bilingual staff on the floor, interpreter services set up, and a practice culture built around making these families feel like the clinic belongs to them too. It's a genuinely rewarding patient population to work with, and it shapes how we do almost everything.

We're recently under new ownership and building the clinical team properly from the ground up.

The role

n

You'll work alongside our Lead Practice Nurse running the treatment room. Day to day this looks like:

n

n




- Immunisations and childhood vaccinations
n
- Wound care and dressings
n
- ECGs, spirometry and health assessments
n
- Chronic disease management — GPMP and TCA coordination, care plan reviews
n
- Cold chain, sterilisation and infection control
n
- Supporting GPs and registrars with procedures
n
- Recall and reminder follow-up
n

There's real scope here to shape how the treatment room runs rather than inherit someone else's system.

What we're looking for

n

n
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
n
- General practice experience preferred, but we'll consider strong hospital or community nursing backgrounds
n
- Best Practice software experience is a bonus, not a dealbreaker
n
- Comfortable working with patients from refugee and non-English speaking backgrounds — interpreter services and bilingual staff on site
n
- Arabic or Kurmanji language skills highly regarded but not required
n
- Current CPR certificate, National Police Check, immunisation evidence
n
