About the role
n
The Emergency Medical Dispatcher role includes two main functions that you will be trained in -
n
n
- Be the first point of contact for people during emergencies by answering Triple Zero (000) emergency calls.
n
- Provide critical pre-arrival advice to callers while arranging help for Queenslanders during emergency situations.
n
- Assist callers in a structured and supportive environment using established scripted protocols.
n
- Record accurate and critical details to support dispatchers and paramedics.
n
n
Dispatching
n
n
- Organise and coordinate multiple ambulance crews across Queensland through radio communication
n
- Operate a multi-screen computer system, where you'll manage responses multiple incidents.
n
- Engage your technical skills in real-time Computer Aided Dispatch systems.
n
- Co-ordinate non-urgent patient transport services with healthcare facilities and practitioners.
n

Key Responsibilities
n
Ability to work full-time on a rotating roster (Generally 4 days on, 4 days off – subject to change), in a fast-paced team environment that provides 24/7 coverage (including nights, public holidays and weekends) within one of our communication operations centres across the state.
n
Complete training for Call-Taking and Dispatching that is provided by QAS. Once obtained, each shift will focus on one function.

Mandatory requirements

- Ability to attend and complete an in‐person 7‐week training program based in Brisbane (Travel and accommodation available for eligible candidates)

- Ability to commit to working on a 24/7 roster (Generally 4 days on & 4 days off)
