Job Description
The Fitout Studio is an established Brisbane commercial interiors company specialising in thoughtfully designed and expertly delivered workplace environments.
n
We are expanding our dedicated Minor Works division, delivering planned commercial improvement projects generally valued between $20,000 and $100,000. These projects include office alterations, meeting rooms, tenancy reconfigurations, small refurbishments, make-goods, reception upgrades and other targeted workplace improvements.
n
We are looking for a hands‐on Minor Works Site Supervisor / Carpenter who can take ownership of the physical delivery of these projects—from arriving on site and getting the work moving through to quality completion and defect close‐out.
n
This is not a role for someone who needs to be constantly directed. We need someone practical, organised, commercially aware and exceptionally good with clients.
n
The role
n
Working closely with our Estimator and Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and qualified delivery of multiple minor works projects across Brisbane.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
Undertaking hands‐on carpentry, framing, fix‐out and general construction activities
n
Establishing and managing minor works sites from commencement through to completion
n
Coordinating subcontractors and trades on site
n
Planning daily works, site access, sequencing, materials and deliveries
n
Identifying issues early and finding practical solutions
n
Maintaining site safety, presentation and compliance
n
Monitoring workmanship and ensuring our quality standards are maintained
n
Keeping clients and the internal project team informed of site progress
n
Managing works carefully within occupied commercial environments
n
Completing defects promptly and properly
n
Ensuring every site is left clean, organised and ready for handover
n
Representing The Fitout Studio professionally with clients, consultants,
Building Managers and subcontractors
n
Our Estimator and Project Coordinator will support project documentation, procurement, purchase orders, scheduling and administration. Your focus will be owning delivery on the ground and making sure nothing is left unfinished.
n
About you
n
You are likely an experienced commercial carpenter, leading hand or site supervisor who enjoys running smaller, fast‐moving projects and is still willing to work on the tools.
n
To succeed in this role, you will need:
n
A recognised carpentry trade qualification
n
Strong framing, carpentry and commercial fit‐out capability
n
Experience within commercial interiors, office fit‐outs or refurbishment projects
n
The ability to coordinate multiple trades and keep work moving
n
Strong problem‐solving skills and sound construction knowledge
n
Excellent communication and client‐facing skills
n
A high level of personal accountability
n
The confidence to make sensible decisions without waiting to be told every step
n
A strong eye for quality and detail
n
Good time management and the ability to manage changing priorities
n
A current White Card
n
The ability to use basic digital systems for site communication, photographs and reporting
n
Experience working in occupied office buildings and coordinating with Facilities Managers or Building Managers will be highly regarded.
n
This role will suit someone who
n
Takes ownership instead of making excuses
n
Calls people back and keeps their promises
n
Notices problems before the client does
n
Can communicate confidently with both trades and corporate clients
n
Is comfortable running a site while also completing hands‐on work
n
Keeps a clean, safe and well‐organised workplace
n
Understands that the small details are often what clients remember
n
Wants to help build a division rather than simply fill a position
n
What this role is not
n
This is not reactive maintenance, residential construction or general handyman work.
n
Our Minor Works division delivers planned commercial projects requiring proper coordination, professional communication and the same standard of care we bring to our larger fit‐out projects.
n
What we offer
n
A salary depending on experience
n
A fully maintained company vehicle for work‐related travel
n
A permanent full‐time position with an established Brisbane commercial fitout company
n
Early starts and early finishes aligned with commercial construction requirements
n
Varied, fast‐moving projects across Brisbane
n
Strong estimating, coordination and administrative support
n
The opportunity to help shape and grow our Minor Works division from the beginning
n
Some after‐hours and weekend work will occasionally be required to accommodate occupied workplaces and client operational requirements.
n
Why join The Fitout Studio?
n
You will be joining a growing Brisbane business with an established client base, strong relationships across the commercial property industry and a genuine opportunity to help shape our Minor Works division from the beginning.
n
We believe in taking ownership, communicating proactively and delivering without drama. We are looking for someone who works the same way.
n
If you are a capable commercial contractor or site supervisor who can run the work, represent the business properly and still get your hands dirty? We would like to hear from you.
