About the role You will lead the design and delivery of evaluation plans for a wide range of programs, policies and strategies, ensuring they are assessed in a clear, consistent and practical way. By monitoring performance and reporting on outcomes, you will help shape future planning, strengthen accountability and ensure that government investment delivers meaningful results for communities across NSW.

Working closely with policy and program teams, you will provide expert advice on evaluation approaches and support the use of evidence in decision‑making. The role involves analysing both qualitative and quantitative data, identifying trends and insights, and translating findings into clear recommendations. You will also build strong relationships with stakeholders, contribute to business cases and strategic discussions, and help drive a culture of continuous improvement.

About You You bring strong experience in evaluation across strategy, policy or programs, ideally within the arts, cultural or government sectors. You are confident designing and implementing evaluation plans using sound, credible methods, and can manage activities from data collection through to analysis and reporting. You are comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative data, and skilled at turning evidence into clear insights and practical recommendations that support decision‑making, policy development and continuous improvement.

You work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and are able to provide clear advice and guidance to improve the quality of research, evaluation and reporting. You build effective relationships, facilitate discussions and support teams to engage with evaluation processes in a meaningful way. You are adaptable and organised, and can balance competing priorities and anticipate challenges, taking a practical approach to resolving them. You are also confident contributing to strategic conversations, providing evidence‑based input to business cases and helping ensure that evaluation findings lead to real, measurable improvements.

The TAFE NSW Manufacturing Centres of Excellence (MCoE), are National Centres of Excellence, a joint initiative between the Australian Government and NSW Government under the National Skills Agreement.

MCoEs are an innovative education model to tackle the manufacturing skills challenge for NSW and Australia. Located in Western Sydney, the Hunter, and the Illawarra, each centre specialises in different areas. These include advanced manufacturing with robotics and 3D printing, supporting clean energy in net zero manufacturing and sustainable manufacturing practices, supporting the heavy manufacturing industry, and supporting new and existing workforce build the skills they need for the future.

The Institutes of Applied Technology (IAT) are innovative partnerships between TAFE NSW, industry and universities, supported by the Department of Education. Located in Sydney and Western Sydney, the Institutes focus on delivering practical, real‑world skills that align directly with workplace needs. Their course offerings span high‑demand fields such as construction project management, artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security and computer‑aided design (CAD).

As a Senior Project Officer – Evaluation, you will play a key role in supporting evaluation activities across the MCoE and IAT programs. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, you will design and implement evaluation activities that inform continuous improvement and evidence‑based decision making. Your responsibilities will include developing evaluation and data collection plans, collecting and managing qualitative and quantitative data collection, data analysis and synthesis, and translating that data into clear evaluation findings and recommendations. You will also facilitate workshops and discussions with evaluation stakeholders to ensure findings and recommendations are appropriately contextualised and use your expertise to strengthen evaluation capability and practice across programs.

The successful candidate must be willing to travel regionally as required to the three MCoE campuses at Newcastle, Wetherill Park and Wollongong, and the two IAT campuses at Kingswood and Meadowbank.

About You You are an experienced and adaptable professional with a genuine curiosity for learning and a passion for high‑quality evaluation. A confident and effective communicator, you bring strong emotional intelligence, enabling you to build productive relationships and facililiate group discussions with diverse stakeholders.



You work proactively and flexibly in dynamic environments and are comfortable managing multiple activities simultaneously. Your experience includes group facilitation or workshop delivery, and qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. Evaluation‑specific training or education (formal or non‑accredited) is highly regarded, along with a willingness to continue developing your evaluation knowledge and skills.

To be successful in this role you will hold a:

- Degree qualification in related field or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated sound project management skills and experience and the ability to plan, lead and deliver complex implementation activities.
- High level planning and analytical skills along with the ability to address specific challenges.

Highly Regarded:

- Demonstrated formal or non-accredited evaluation‑specific training or education.
- Experience in using qualitative data collection analysis tools (e.g. Qualtrics, NVivo).
