Company Overview

BLACKROC is partnering with a major Federal Government agency to recruit a Lead Data Analyst.

Role Purpose

This is a senior, hands-on role leading and delivering complex technical work under limited direction. You'll lead, coach and guide a small group of Data Analysts within a strategic change program delivering important data assets and capabilities. The work demands highly developed technical skills, genuine curiosity and critical thinking to diagnose and solve problems and deliver high-quality outcomes in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Active participation in small, multi-disciplinary teams in the design, build, deployment and maintenance of data assets and data products in a cloud data platform
- Presenting complex technical options, decisions and results tailored to audiences with different levels of technical and data literacy
- Data wrangling, profiling and quality assessment of new or changed data sources and new data integrations
- Translating business rules and requirements into coded transformations
- Design and prototype development of new data attributes and products
- Data validation testing, including defect and anomaly remediation
- Shared accountability for data products that are robust and error free
- Maintaining code base and documentation standards, and sharing knowledge across analyst teams

Required Skills & Experience





- Extensive data analysis experience with a strong ability to prototype high-quality solutions from complex, disparate datasets
- Advanced programming expertise (8+ years) across SQL, SAS, R and/or Python
- Proven ability to work independently with explicit purpose, delivering high-quality outcomes with limited supervision under tight deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team with active collaboration, sharing of skills and capacity, and shared accountability for team outcomes
- Experience working within an industrialised Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment, with an understanding of data pipelines, modelling, and data and reporting platform architectures
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to translate business discussions into data flows and process documentation
- Australian citizenship, and the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with Snowflake, or other cloud data platforms and SAS Viya platforms
- Familiarity with the Fabric Power BI reporting platform
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new analytics platforms and tools as required
