Holy Ship – Marina Mirage, Main Beach, Gold Coast

Holy Ship is looking for an energetic, experienced and commercially minded Functions Manager / Assistant Venue Manager to join our team at our unique waterfront restaurant and events venue at Marina Mirage.

n

This is a hands-on operational role for someone who is equally comfortable running a busy venue, leading staff and looking after customers as they are getting out there and generating new functions, events and business.

n

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, sees opportunities and makes things happen.

n

The Role

n

Working closely with the Venue Manager and owners, you will have two key areas of responsibility:

n

Venue Management

n

Manage the venue and team when the Venue Manager is rostered off or unavailable

n

Lead front-of-house operations and ensure a high standard of customer service

n

Coordinate staff, service flow and day-to-day venue operations

n

Assist with rostering, staff training and performance

n

Handle customer enquiries, bookings and issues professionally

n

Ensure the venue is presented and operating at a high standard

n

Work hands-on alongside the team during busy periods

n

Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling and general venue management

n

Help drive sales, customer satisfaction and repeat business

n

Functions & Business Development

n

Take ownership of function and event enquiries from initial contact through to completion

n

Actively seek out new function and event business rather than simply waiting for enquiries to come in

n

Develop relationships with local businesses, corporate clients, event organisers, tourism operators and community groups

n

Generate new opportunities for corporate events, birthdays, celebrations, weddings, Christmas parties, networking events and private functions

n

Conduct venue inspections and meet prospective function clients

n

Prepare function proposals and follow up leads

n





Maintain a pipeline of prospective function customers and proactively follow up opportunities

n

Work with management, kitchen and operations teams to ensure functions are planned and delivered successfully

n

Identify opportunities to bring additional customers and revenue into the venue

n

Help promote Holy Ship as one of the Gold Coast's most unique waterfront function destinations

n

About You

n

We are looking for someone who is:

n

Experienced in hospitality, restaurants, bars, functions or event management

n

Confident managing a venue and team independently

n

Highly organised and capable of managing multiple bookings and priorities

n

Strong with customers and comfortable building relationships

n

Sales-focused and confident approaching potential clients

n

Proactive — you don't wait for the phone to ring

n

Commercially minded and understands that great hospitality and strong sales go hand in hand

n

Comfortable following up leads and asking for the business

n

Reliable, qualified and capable of taking ownership

n

Willing to work evenings, weekends and functions as required

n

Someone who genuinely enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operation rather than managing from an office

n

Previous experience in functions, events, hospitality sales or business developmentwill be highly regarded.
