Transformer Winder / Repair Technician $48–$55ph + Super | Permanent Full-Time | Brisbane | Relocation Assistance
n Are you an experienced Transformer Winder, Transformer Repairer or Electrical Fitter with hands‐on experience overhauling, repairing or rewinding transformers?
n
We are recruiting for an established Brisbane-based electrical engineering business specialising in the repair, rewind and refurbishment of electric motors, pumps and transformers across the mining, manufacturing, food processing and energy sectors.
n
Due to continued growth within the Transformer Division, we are seeking an experienced transformer specialist to join the workshop team.
n Interstate candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, with relocation assistance available for the right person.
n The Role Working alongside the Transformer Manager and Workshop Supervisor, you will be involved in the complete overhaul, refurbishment, testing and winding of low, medium and high-voltage transformers.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n

- Disassembly and reassembly of transformers
n
- HV and LV transformer coil winding
n
- Setting up and operating transformer winding machines
n
- Back‐winding coils to capture winding data
n
- Winding coils to job specifications and designs
n
- Foil, multilayer and disc winding
n
- Making tapping and delta lead connections
n
- Stacking and assembling coils
n
- Nesting and de‐nesting HV and LV coils
n
- Stacking and unstacking core laminations
n
- Identifying components requiring replacementPreparing components for reassembly
n
- Making gaskets and completing material lists
n
- Transformer electrical testing and fault identification
n
- Capturing wiring details prior to disconnection
n
- Rewiring auxiliary equipment
n
- Recording and interpreting test results
n
- Quality inspections and final project checks
n
- Recording project progress and technical information
n
- Occasional site‐based transformer testing when required
n

- Preparing components for reassembly
n
- Making gaskets and completing material lists
n
- Transformer electrical testing and fault identification
n
- Capturing wiring details prior to disconnection
n
- Rewiring auxiliary equipment
n
- Recording and interpreting test results
n
- Quality inspections and final project checks
n
- Recording project progress and technical information

About You We are looking for someone with genuine hands‐on transformer workshop experience.
n Ideally, you will have:
n
n
- Previous transformer winding, repair or refurbishment experience
n
- Experience with LV, MV and/or HV transformers
n
- Transformer coil winding or rewinding experience
n
- Experience with foil, multilayer or disc winding
n
- Electrical testing and fault‐finding experience
n
- Ability to read drawings, schematics and technical procedures
n
- Strong mechanical aptitude
n
- Excellent attention to detail
n
- Ability to work independently
n
- Strong commitment to safety and quality
n
- Current driver's licence
n
n
Experience working on single and three‐phase transformers up to 20 MVA will be highly regarded. Forklift, overhead crane and associated machinery experience would also be advantageous.
