Our Head Office & Factory is based in Somerton Victoria. We have several divisions that make up our company which cover Design, Metal Fabrication, Assembly, Painting, Installation & Automotive Trimming.

About the role

n

Custom Air Group is seeking a CNC Laser & Press Brake Operator to join our manufacturing team in Somerton, Victoria. This is a permanent, ongoing opportunity for a skilled operator who can hit the ground running. Previous laser cutting experience is preferred; however, we are also open to candidates with a strong mechanical background who are willing to learn. This role requires a self-motivated, responsible person with excellent trade qualities & Communication skills who is able to work unsupervised and as a part of a team, reporting directly to the General Manager.

Key responsibilities

- Set up and operate CNC press brake machinery - LVD Easyform-9 170-Tonne Press Brake
n
- Set up and operate Fibre laser cutting machinery - LVD Puma 6kW dual-bed laser
n
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
n
- Read and interpret shop drawings
n
- Understand and operate LVD-compatible software suite
n
- Create programs at the machine
n
- Select and prepare sheet metal for the laser cutting process
n
- Complete re-nesting where required to maximise material utilisation and minimise waste
n
- Complete first-cut checks and milestone quality checks throughout production
n




- Perform QA checks and accurately measure in-process and completed parts
n
- Prioritise work orders according to urgency and production targets
n
- Load and unload steel plates using forklifts and overhead cranes
n
- Fabricate and assemble components from engineering drawings
n
- Operate workshop machinery including saws, drills and mills
n
- Complete assembly, finishing and quality inspections
n
- MIG and TIG welding on steel, stainless steel and aluminium
n
- Assist with testing and introducing new processes or technology
n

About you

- Experience operating CNC Laser / Press Brake is highly desirable
n
- Ability to read and interpret engineering/shop drawings
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
n
- Ability to accurately measure and perform quality checksAbility to work to production deadlines and prioritise work orders
n
- Strong mechanical background
n
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes
n
- Reliable transport and a strong work ethic
n
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
n
