Job Description

Cert III in Horticulture or higher
n
Strong horticultural knowledge and hands‐on experience
n
Disability support training including personal care or willingness to undertake
n
Experience supervising staff and working in a team based culture including contributing to team based decision making
n
Personal qualities: people-and-plants person who is calm, grounded and can lead by example,
n
Demonstrated passion and commitment to providing people with a disability real options for employment
n
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to connect with clients
n
Current Driver's Licence
n
Current First Aid Certificate with CPR or willingness to complete
n
Current NDIS Clearance screening check or willingness to complete
n
Own reliable transport and comprehensive insurance
n
Disability sector experience
n
Willingness to promote and advocate for the nursery and its workers in the wider community

n
To be successful in the role, you will be a people and plants person with experience supervising staff and working in a team based culture. You will have a desire to inspire and lead people, achieving team outcomes in a fast paced and challenging team environment.

The Role
n
As our Nursery Team Leader, you will oversee plant propagation planning and scheduling and lead a team of support staff and nursery hands living with a disability. You will be part of a dynamic team that has a positive impact on clients and communities.
n
Supervise, support and work with other disability support staff,
accommodating workflows while still being willing to make decisions and provide direction where needed including running regular check-ins and meetings
n
Oversee plant propagation planning and scheduling including monitoring stock levels and quality control
n
Supervise plant nutrition, the treatment of plant pests and diseases and oversee stock maintenance
n
Supervise the ordering and purchase of product inputs while adhering to budget allocations,
n
Hands‐on support role including assisting participants with personal care and managing challenging behaviours
n
Supervision of the handling of shift notes, progress notes and monitoring the progress of participant goals and the effectiveness of their supports
n
Be active in advocating the rights of people with a disability
n
Communicating with team members, family members, advocates and other support services
n
Ensure risk and health and safety policies, procedures, regulations and legislation are adhered to including maintaining nursery quarterly safety checklist, material safety data sheets & protected work method statements.
n
Ensure that supports are provided in accordance with the National Disability Service Standards, NDIS Code of Conduct and other relevant legislation
n
Supervising the orientation and induction of new employees, volunteers and work experience placements
n
Explore new markets and liaise regularly with existing customers, packing and delivering orders, sometimes using your own vehicle
n
Assist manager with admin duties such as banking.
n
up to 45 hours per fortnight
n
Roster: Tuesdays 8.00am
n

- 4.30pm (Week1), 8.00am

- 4.30pm (Week 1 & 2) & Fridays 8.00am

- 3.30pm (Week1) 8.00am

Level 4 SCHADS Award. $58.38 p/hour (casual rate including 25% loading)
n
Salary packaging available of up $16,000 per annum tax free
