We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Tradesperson Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our workshop team at our Rockingham Bus Depot.
n
About The Role
n
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will undertake scheduled and corrective maintenance to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Transdev WA's fleet.
n
n
- inspecting, servicing, maintaining and repairing lightweight motor vehicles and applicable fleet vehicles;
n
- diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment;
n
- performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer requirements;
n
- repairing and maintaining petrol and light diesel engines;
n
- diagnosing and repairing engine, transmission, cooling, braking, steering and suspension systems;
n
- servicing and repairing driveline, fuel, exhaust, battery and charging systems;
n
- using electronic scan tools and other diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify vehicle faults;
n
- dismantling, inspecting, repairing, replacing and reassembling mechanical components;
n
- testing vehicles, systems and repaired components to confirm safe and effective operation;
n
- identifying worn, defective, damaged or unsafe vehicle components and completing the required repairs;
n
- carrying out vehicle inspections and safety checks;
n
- supporting fleet-maintenance activities within the scope of the employee's qualifications, competencies and assigned duties;
n
- assisting qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanics with appropriate maintenance activities where required;
n
- interpreting technical manuals, diagnostic information, manufacturer specifications and maintenance instructions;
n
- completing workshop job cards, inspection reports and maintenance records accurately;
n
- maintaining workshop tools, equipment and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition;
n
- complying with workplace health and safety, environmental, quality and operational requirements; and
n
- contributing to a safe, skilled and collaborative workshop environment.
n
n
Qualifications and experience
n
n
- a recognised trade qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Automotive Mechanical Technology, Motor Mechanics, or an equivalent relevant qualification;
n
- demonstrated practical experience inspecting, servicing, diagnosing and repairing lightweight motor vehicles;
n
- experience servicing and repairing petrol and light diesel vehicles;
n
- sound working knowledge of engines, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspension and driveline systems;
n
- practical mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic capability;
n
- experience using electronic scan tools and mechanical diagnostic equipment;
n
- ability to diagnose mechanical and vehicle electrical faults;
n
- ability to interpret technical manuals, manufacturer specifications and maintenance documentation;
n
- ability to complete accurate job cards, inspection reports and maintenance records;
n
- a strong commitment to workplace health and safety;
n
- ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team;
n
- availability to work the advertised rotating roster and rostered Saturday requirements; and
n
- the ability to satisfy all pre-employment requirements applicable to the position.
n
n
Desirable experience and licences
n
n
- experience maintaining passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles, fleet vehicles or similar automotive equipment;
n
- experience with light diesel engines;
n
- experience with up-to-date vehicle electrical and electronic control systems;
n
- experience with vehicle air-conditioning or auto-electrical systems;
n
- manufacturer-specific diagnostic or technical training;
n
- experience working in a regulated transport, fleet or workshop environment;
n
- previous experience supporting the maintenance of buses or heavy commercial vehicles within the scope of a Light Vehicle Mechanic's qualifications and competencies;
n
- a current Western Australian driver's licence; and
n
- a current Heavy Rigid driver's licence, or the ability and willingness to obtain one.
n
n
Employment conditions
n
The position provides 40 guaranteed hours per week, Monday to Friday. This comprises:
n
n
- 38 ordinary hours per week; and
n
- two guaranteed overtime hours per week, paid at double time.
n
n
The following entitlements are paid in addition to the guaranteed annual earnings:
n
n
- 12% superannuation;
n
- 17.5% annual leave loading;
n
- applicable shift allowances;
n
- payment for rostered Saturday shifts; and
n
- payment for any additional overtime worked.
n
n
This indicative package excludes annual leave loading, Saturday roster payments, additional overtime and any other applicable allowances.
n
Overtime and penalty payments
n
Additional overtime and penalty payments apply as follows:
n
n
- additional weekday overtime is paid at double time;
n
- all hours worked on a Saturday are paid at double time;
n
- all hours worked on a Sunday are paid at double time; and
n
- all hours worked on a public holiday are paid at time and a half.
n
n
Ordinary hours worked after 8:00 pm attract an additional nightshift loading of 20% of the base hourly rate for each eligible hour worked.
n
The nightshift loading does not apply to voluntary overtime or hours worked on public holidays, Saturdays or Sundays.
n
Hours and roster
n
This is a full-time position working 40 guaranteed hours per week, Monday to Friday, excluding meal breaks.
n
The 40-hour working week comprises:
n
n
- 38 base ordinary hours; and
n
- two required overtime hours paid at double time.
n
n
The roster rotates weekly between:
n
n
- Early shift: 5:00 am to 1:30 pm; and
n
- Late shift: 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.
n
n
Employees rotate between the early and late shift each week.
n
A rostered Saturday shift is ordinarily required approximately once every six weeks. All hours worked on a Saturday are paid at double time.
n
Applicants must be available to work both weekly shift patterns and participate in the rostered Saturday arrangement.
