I'm working with a boutique firm in the Shire that has been established since 2009. The Partner has 30 years in the game, genuinely down to earth, no ego, and has built a team who like to stick around. It's a boutique firm, all 5 staff have been there between 4-13 years. In this industry, that tells you everything you need to know.

The firm - what makes them different?

It's not a big firm pretending to be personal. It's a small team with a wide-ranging, interesting client base (small businesses, medical, gyms, physios, mum and dad groups, property investors, plus some complex $1m to $5m clients).

They've grown about 10% a year and are actively looking at acquisitions, so there's real room to grow with the place, not just do the same job for five years.

They operate on a fixed-price model, so there's no timesheets.

Technology stack: (Almost all clients are on XERO).Xero Tax, Xero Practice Manager, FYI Docs, Dext, Practice Ignition, Content Snare, NowInfinity, BGL 360, MS Office, Teams, ChatGPT Business, Fyxer.ai, BOMA and Seamlss.

About the role

n

Take day-to-day ownership of an allocated portfolio, managing the relationships, communication and deadlines.

n

- Manage a portfolio of small businesses and individual clients on their business services & tax matters, ensuring deadlines are met.
n
- Resolve routine accounting, tax and client matters without unnecessary Partner involvement.
n
- Use the practice's technology stack confidently and contribute to better systems and processes.
n

About you

n

n
- Most recent experience in a public practice accounting firm
n
- CA, CPA, or IPA or working towards it.
n
- Experience managing a portfolio end to end
n
- Strong grasp of Australian income tax, GST and small business compliance
n
- Advanced Xero skills and experience with Xero Tax
n
- Confidence talking directly to clients directly, not just preparing their work
n
- Clear communication skills - written and spoken
n
- A track record of actually owning your workflow: chasing clients, hitting deadlines, not waiting to be chased yourself
n
