Hands-On Depot Supervisor / Manager – Containers for Change

Lead a Local Brisbane Recycling Operation

n

We are looking for ahands-on Depot Supervisor or Manager to join our busy Containers for Change depot in Brisbane.

n

This is a genuine leadership opportunity for someone who enjoysworking with people, solving problems and being involved in the day-to-day operation.

n

The position level will depend on yourexperience, leadership capability and ability to take ownership. We are open to appointing a robust supervisor or an experienced operational manager.

n

About Us

n

We are a local Brisbane depot supporting thecommunity and environment through container recycling.

n

Our depot operates as amanual counting facility. We have approximately12 employees in total, including 4 full-time and 8–9 casual employees.

n

On a typical operating day, you will coordinate and manage approximately5–7 employees on site, working closely withtwo Site Leads/Supervisors who support daily operations and report to you.

n

This is a practical, fast-paced environment —not a desk-based management role.

n

About the Role

n

You will help lead the overall day-to-day operation of the depot while working alongside the team on the floor.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Leading and supporting two Site Leads/Supervisors.
n
- Coordinating approximately5–7 employees on a typical day.
n
- Overseeing the broader team of approximately 12 employees across the roster.
n
- Working alongside the team on the depot floor.
n
- Sorting, counting and handling containers and moving crates and bins.
n
- Managing daily workflow, productivity and staffing requirements.
n
- Supporting staff performance, training and development.
n
- Managing customer service and resolving customer issues.
n
- Supporting commercial customers and drive-through collections.
n
- Conducting daily safety checks and toolbox talks.
n
- Maintaining WHS standards and a safe working environment.
n
- Monitoring operational KPIs and identifying opportunities for improvement.
n
- Using computers, tablets and operational systems.
n
- Assisting with rosters, attendance and general administration.
n
- Taking ownership of problems and finding practical solutions.
n

Experience & Skills

n

You will ideally have:

n

- Previous experience supervising or managing a team.
n
- Experience managing permanent and casual employees.
n
- Strong communication and people-management skills.
n
- Experience in warehouse, logistics, recycling, manufacturing, retail or a similar operational environment.
n
- Good computer and technology skills.
n
- An understanding of WHS and workplace safety.
n
- Strong customer service skills.
n
- The physical capability to perform hands-on manual work.
n
- The ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm in a busy operational environment.
n

Highly Regarded

n

The following qualifications, licences and experience will behighly regarded:

n

- Forklift licence and practical forklift experience
n
- First Aid certification
n
- Current Australian driver's licence
n
- Experience driving atruck or van under 4.5 tonnes
n
- Experience with rostering and staff performance management
n
- Experience conducting safety inspections and toolbox talks
n
- Experience monitoring KPIs, productivity and operational performance
n

n

You donot need previous Containers for Change experience.

n

Working Hours

n

Our depot operatesMonday to Saturday.

n





The preferred working arrangement is:

n

n
- Monday to Friday
n
- Approximately7:30am – 4:30pm
n
- 40 hours per week
n
- Approximately2 hours of overtime included within the 40-hour working week
n

n

Our two Site Leads/Supervisors currently take turns covering Saturdays.

n

The successful candidate willnormally work Monday to Friday. However, occasional Saturday work may be required to cover leave, staff shortages or operational requirements.

n

Our depot is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

n

We aim to provide a stable Monday–Friday working arrangement wherever possible while maintaining the flexibility required to operate a 6-day-a-week depot.

The position level and remuneration will be determined based on yourexperience, capability, leadership skills and ability to take ownership of the operation.
