2026-Aug-04 to 2026-Sep-05 ACCOUNTANT (GENERAL) BYRNES ACCOUNTING & FINANCIAL PTY LTD TAMWORTH NSW 2340 FULL TIME, PERMANENT SALARY $85K to $95K PER ANNUM Position Summary Byrnes Accounting & Financial Pty Ltd provides taxation, accounting, business advisory, financial reporting and compliance services to individuals, businesses, trusts and self-managed superannuation funds. We also conduct annual audits for not-for-profit organisations and provide management accounting services to Aboriginal Health Services. The Accountant (General) will deliver accounting, taxation and advisory services, manage a portfolio of clients and ensure compliance with Australian accounting, taxation and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities: Financial Accounting:

n

n
- Prepare annual financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders.
n
- Prepare management reports, cash-flow forecasts and financial projections.
n
- Analyse financial performance, reconcile accounts and maintain accurate records.
n

n

Taxation:

n

n
- Prepare and lodge income tax returns, BAS, IAS and GST returns.
n
- Provide taxation planning and compliance advice.
n
- Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office regarding client matters.
n

n

Business Advisory:

n

n
- Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
n
- Analyse profitability and recommend improvements to financial management and operational efficiency.
n
- Provide advice on business structures and financial decisions.
n

n

Compliance:

n

n
- Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, taxation legislation and relevant corporate requirements.
n
- Prepare ASIC and other statutory compliance documentation.
n
- Maintain accurate client records and working papers.
n

n

Client Management:

n

n
- Manage a portfolio of business and individual clients.
n
- Meet with clients to discuss financial performance, taxation and compliance obligations.
n




- Maintain professional relationships and respond promptly to enquiries.
n

n

Financial Systems:

n

n
- Use accounting systems including Xero, MYOB, Reckon and other cloud-based platforms.
n
- Assist clients with bookkeeping systems and software implementation.
n
- Review financial controls and recommend improvements.
n

n

Professional Duties:

n

n
- Maintain client confidentiality and high ethical standards.
n
- Remain current with accounting, taxation and legislative changes.
n
- Undertake professional development and guide junior staff where required.
n

n

Essential Selection Criteria: Qualifications:

n

n
- Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Accounting or a closely related discipline.
n
- Membership of IPA, CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and
n

n

New Zealand, or willingness to obtain membership. Experience:

n

n
- At least five years of relevant post-qualification accounting experience.
n
- Experience preparing financial statements, taxation returns and compliance reports.
n
- Knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation requirements is highly desirable.
n

n

- Excellent written and verbal communication.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel and cloud-accounting software skills.

- Ability to manage multiple client files, priorities and deadlines.
