David Brown Santasalo (DBS) is a global leader in mechanical power transmission solutions, specialising in the service, repair, overhaul and manufacture of industrial gearboxes and drive systems.

We are looking for a motivated Apprentice Mechanical Fitter to join our Mackay Service Centre and undertake a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade while gaining practical, hands‐on experience alongside our experienced tradespeople.

n

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with their hands, has a genuine interest in mechanical equipment and wants to develop a long-term career in the engineering industry.

What You'll Learn

n

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will gain experience in:

n

- Dismantling, inspecting, repairing and assembling industrial gearboxes and mechanical equipment
n
- Using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment
n
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical information
n
- Identifying mechanical components and understanding how they operate
n
- Workshop fitting, maintenance and repair techniques
n
- Working safely and following DBS quality, safety and environmental procedures
n
- Supporting experienced Fitters on a range of customer equipment and projects
n

About You

n

We're looking for someone who:





n
- Has a genuine interest in mechanical fitting, engineering or heavy industry
n
- Is reliable, punctual and willing to learn
n
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
n
- Enjoys practical, hands‐on work and problem solving
n
- Can work effectively as part of a team
n
- Takes workplace safety seriously
n
- Has good communication skills
n
- Holds or is working towards a current driver's licence
n
- Has completed Year 10 or above
n
- Previous mechanical, workshop, school‐based trade or work experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
n
