Salary/Level: Level 5, $108,848 - $118,961 p.a. plus Superannuation

Tenure: 24-month fixed-term (from 21 October 2026), full-time position

Location: South Perth (Perth Zoo), Western Australia

The Saving Wildlife Community Coordinator role works within the Discovery and Learning team and has the primary responsibility for the development and delivery of Perth Zoo’s community conservation education and engagement program; Habitats for Wildlife. This position is responsible for the coordination of the program including planning and development, promotion, budgeting, evaluating and reporting on outcomes. It is also responsible for working with the Discovery and Learning Operations Coordinator to develop education experiences that, inspire behaviour change and a greater awareness of Perth Zoo’s role as a contemporary conservation zoo.

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating and evaluating community-based learning programmes and projects,



preferably within a zoo, other environmental education or conservation focused organisation.
2. Relevant experience facilitating consultation sessions, leading training and delivering workshops with a range of audiences from a wide variety of backgrounds.
3. Experience working collaboratively with a wide range of community partners, including stakeholder engagement.
4. Demonstrated experience of using learning programmes to bring about social change, ideally encouraging sustainable behaviours for nature conservation.
5. Experience developing high quality resources for learning, both paper based and digitally.
6. Excellent time management, administration and planning skills. Ability to coordinate multiple project activities, meeting deadlines and ensuring appropriate quality control.
7. Excellent diplomacy and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively under own initiative and as part of a team, work under pressure with a positive attitude and to enthuse and engage others.
