What you’ll do
- Lead the Club’s media and communications strategy across the WBBL and BBL seasons.
- Act as the primary media contact and build strong relationships with media and broadcast partners.
- Develop and distribute media releases, VNRs and communications plans.
- Provide strategic communications advice to the General Manager, coaches, players and support staff.
- Manage media operations at matches, including broadcast requirements, media access and content opportunities.
- Travel with the teams and attend matches throughout the season.
- Work with the Big Bash digital team and appointed agency across editorial, video, social and digital content.
- Develop content across the Club’s owned channels, including social media, website, EDMs and member communications.
- Support player appearances, mandatory Big Bash content and announcements.
- Monitor media coverage and emerging issues, providing advice and recommending appropriate responses.
- Manage interns and seasonal contractors as required.
What you’ll bring
- 4-5 years’ experience in media, communications, PR or a similar role, ideally within major sport or a PR agency.
- Strong knowledge of media management, public relations and broadcast operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms and content marketing.
- Confidence providing strategic advice to senior leaders, coaches and players.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- The ability to work autonomously and coordinate contractors during peak periods.
Experience working with elite athletes or within a major sporting organisation will be highly regarded, as will video production, photography and experience with CMS/VMS platforms such as Pulse Live and Brightcove.
Why join the Melbourne Renegades?
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the public profile of the Melbourne Renegades during the BBL and WBBL seasons.
You’ll be close to the players, coaches, media and action throughout the season, with responsibility for telling the Club’s stories, managing media opportunities and helping create content that connects with Renegades members and fans.
