The opportunity
A privately owned Australian engineering consultancy is re-defining its Regional Victorian branch, based in Shepparton, and looking for someone to lead it: civil and structural services across subdivisions, industrial redevelopments, defence work and municipal upgrades.

Here, you lead, with room to grow the role and the remuneration alongside it as the office develops. The starting package sits between $150k and $175k plus super, with a bonus structure tied to office performance, built to scale as revenue and margin scale. This is a role with a ceiling well above where it starts, for the right person willing to build toward it.

What you'll be doing
You'll run the office day to day: people, clients, pipeline, delivery. But the real upside sits in business development. Existing client relationships need protecting and growing; regional networks need activating; recent work needs chasing before it ever reaches a formal tender.

If you're someone who sees BD as a real lever for your own income, not a chore bolted onto a technical role, this is where that instinct gets rewarded directly.

The person we need
Technical credibility matters, but it's not the whole story here.



We need someone who can sit across a table from a council engineer in the morning and a junior struggling with workload in the afternoon, and bring the same steadiness to both conversations.

People leadership with empathy; not softness, just the kind of leadership where people feel backed rather than managed. Someone who coaches rather than corrects, who reads a room before they read a KPI.

The person we need - the pointy end

- Civil or Structural Engineering degree
- Consulting background - with a minimum of 10 years' experience
- With a plethora of local knowledge and ideally, connections
- Ability to be flexible across all types of projects and not stuck on one
- Who enjoys shaping careers
