About the role

The Ingham Institute is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Trial Lead to join our Neurology team on a full-time, 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the operational delivery of investigator-initiated and sponsored clinical trials that contribute to advancing clinical care and improving patient outcomes.

As the Clinical Trial Lead, the successful candidate will provide leadership and oversight across a diverse portfolio of onsite clinical trials, guiding studies from planning and site activation through to successful execution. Working closely with principal investigators, sponsors, ethics committees, research governance teams, and multidisciplinary stakeholders, you will ensure trials are delivered in accordance with regulatory requirements, ethical standards, institutional policies, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

The Neurology department at Liverpool Hospital is a tertiary referral service providing specialised care for patients with complex and rare neurological disorders. The department has established areas of clinical expertise in multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, movement disorders and rare neuro immunological conditions.

The department also operates as a specialised clinical trials unit, with extensive experience in the conduct and management of Phase I, II, III and IV clinical trials.

This role is ideal for a clinical research professional with strong leadership skills who is passionate about driving research excellence, mentoring teams,



improving processes, and supporting high-quality, patient-centred research that makes a genuine difference in healthcare.

About You

Essential criteria

- Tertiary qualification in health, life sciences, clinical research, nursing, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).

- Current certification in Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP).

- Extensive experience managing clinical trials in a hospital, academic, or health service setting, including investigator-initiated and sponsored studies.

- Strong knowledge of clinical trial governance, ethics, and regulatory requirements, with experience preparing ethics and governance submissions.

- Demonstrated ability to oversee the full clinical trial lifecycle, ensuring compliance, quality, and timely delivery.

- Proven project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple studies and competing priorities.

- Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong focus on documentation, data integrity, and quality assurance.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

- Experience leading, mentoring, and supporting clinical trial staff to achieve high performance and continuous improvement.

- Professional, proactive, and solutions-focused, with a cooperative approach and alignment to Ingham Institute values.

- This position as classified as a Category A worker (as outlined in the NSW Health Occupational Health policy) – mandatory vaccination is required.

- Applicants must hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing and eligible to obtain one prior to commencement.

Desirable criteria

- Willingness and ability to travel locally or regionally to support multi-site trial activities, site visits, or stakeholder meetings.

- Familiarity with electronic data capture (EDC) systems, clinical trial management systems (CTMS),



and digital platforms for ethics/governance submissions (e.g. REGIS, ERM).
