Overview of role:
The Senior Cloud & Systems Engineer will help transition our predominantly on-premises infrastructure toward cloud-based platforms. This role is responsible for leading the adoption of cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions and enabling Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) capabilities, while also supporting and optimising business-as-usual operations. The position establishes the foundational cloud environment needed for migrating systems securely and in compliance with organisational standards.
You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders on both technology and business initiatives and work with the broader I&S; team to provide leadership, insight, and support—upholding our strong organisational culture throughout.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Infrastructure/Architecture
- Design and deploy scalable IaaS environments.
- Provide architectural frameworks to support system migrations.
- Ensure high availability and uptime of cloud services.
- Offer strategic guidance and make informed decisions on cloud infrastructure.
System Integration
- Lead the migration of on-premises systems to cloud platforms.
- Develop and maintain integrations between legacy systems and cloud services.
- Safeguard data integrity throughout the migration process.
- Minimise downtime during transitions and cutover activities.
IT Process Identification and Automation
- Implement automation-driven solutions to streamline operations.
- Identify inefficiencies in current IT processes and introduce improvements.
About you:
Extensive practical experience in cloud engineering and/or infrastructure systems, or equivalent qualifications gained through: A Diploma or Advanced Diploma
In addition to the qualifications and experience specified above, you will be required to meet the following criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science or similar; and/or a minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience managing and supporting on-premises infrastructure, including hypervisors, network switches, routers, and firewalls, will be highly regarded
- Strong technical, analytical and organisational skills to interpret technical faults, identify root cause and implement strong long-term solutions.
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills with the ability to mentor, negotiate, persuade and resolve conflicts.
- A team player, with a proven record contributing to a positive supportive work setting resulting in high performing teams which achieve objectives and demonstrate continuous improvement in quality and service delivery.

Salary:
The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021 Band 4 $93,548-$112,895+ superannuation salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience. This role is a Fixed term position.
