Graduate Occupational Therapist Program – Newcastle and Hunter | 2027

Start your OT career with the mentoring, structure and support to become an outstanding community Occupational Therapist.

Your Physio Advantage is recruiting for our 2027 Graduate Occupational Therapy Program.

Your first year should be about learning, growing and building confidence — not being handed a full caseload and expected to work it out alone.

Your Learn & Grow Year

Your first year includes:

- Two weeks of intensive onboarding and shadowing experienced clinicians.

- 5 hours of dedicated mentoring and supported learning each week for your first 10 weeks.

- Weekly one-on-one mentoring for your first 12 months.

- Dedicated training sessions specifically for our new graduates.

- Regular OT team professional development.

- Guest education from nationally recognised OTs and industry experts.

- Access to experienced clinicians with 15+ years of experience.

- $1,500 external professional development budget.

- Start alongside other 2027 graduates and progress through your first year together.

Your learning time is protected. We book your mentoring sessions, graduate training and learning sessions into your diary in advance, so your development doesn't have to compete with your caseload.

A Caseload That Grows With You

We don't expect a new graduate to perform like an experienced clinician from day one.

During your first 10 weeks, you'll have reduced KPIs and a deliberately gradual caseload build. As your skills and confidence develop, you'll progressively work towards a sustainable target of 5 billable hours per day.

Structured Clinical Rotations

We don't expect graduates to learn every area of community OT at once.

You will initially complete an Aged Care rotation, developing strong foundations in functional assessment, assistive technology, falls prevention,

home modifications and clinical reasoning.

In the second half of the year, you will progressively rotate into NDIS and disability, developing experience in:

- Functional Capacity Assessments

- Assistive technology

- Home modifications

- Capacity-building therapy

- SIL and SDA assessments

- Complex functional assessment

Why Community Private Practice?

Community OT gives you the opportunity to develop broad, practical skills while seeing how clients actually function within their own homes and communities.

At Your Physio Advantage, you'll benefit from strong one-on-one mentoring, experienced clinicians, modern technology to assist with clinical notes and reports, expert education and structured career progression.

Our aim is to fast-track your development into a confident second-year OT with greater earning potential and career flexibility. Recent graduates within our team have progressed to earning more than $95,000 in their second year.

Salary & Benefits

- $81,000 annual salary + superannuation

- Company car, including fuel and insurance

- $1,500 external professional development budget

- Laptop and mobile phone

- Uniform and OT equipment

- Structured career and salary progression

- Join our 2027 cohort

- Regular social events and quarterly team days

A Flexible Workplace

We are genuinely a flexible workplace — and our actions demonstrate this. Just ask our current team.

We understand that excellent clinicians perform best when they have flexibility and balance, and we work with our team to create sustainable working arrangements while maintaining exceptional client care.

Who Should Apply?

We welcome applications from:

Interstate candidates are also encouraged to apply, with relocation assistance available for the right person.

Don't Wait for Hospital Recruitment

You don't need to wait months to find out whether you've secured a hospital graduate role before exploring another excellent career pathway.

Secure your future now and start 2027 knowing where your OT career begins.

Places in our graduate program are limited and our previous graduate intakes have filled quickly.

Apply today or call Craig on 0421 175 *** for a confidential chat about the program.
