About the role

Hume Doors & Timber is seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our team at our Dandenong South facility. This is a full-time position based on-site, offering the opportunity to maintain and support our manufacturing operations. As a Maintenance Fitter, you will play a critical role in ensuring our production equipment runs smoothly and efficiently, minimising downtime and maximising productivity across our operations.

What you'll be doing

- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment and machinery

- Diagnosing equipment faults and implementing timely repairs to minimise production disruptions

- Conducting routine inspections of machinery, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components

- Maintaining detailed maintenance records and documentation for all equipment servicing

- Installing, aligning, and troubleshooting machinery as required

- Collaborating with production teams to identify maintenance requirements and operational issues

- Performing preventative maintenance schedules to extend equipment lifespan

- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards during all maintenance activities

- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency

What we're looking for

- Trade qualification or recognized certification as a Fitter, Turner, or equivalent in mechanical maintenance or engineering preferred

- Proven experience in industrial maintenance, ideally within manufacturing or production environments

- Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on ability to diagnose and repair equipment faults

- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, diagnostic equipment, and hand tools

- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems

- Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings and maintenance manuals

- Knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS)

- Preferably, experience in woodworking machinery or door manufacturing

- TIG or MIG Welding experience preferred

- Current forklift license or willing to obtain one
