Skyborne Technologies is in the high-tech Defence and security space developing smart robotics. The company is based in Brisbane, Australia and Washington DC, USA.
Skyborne is rapidly growing within the Defence and security space to develop and produce smart high quality robotic Defence robotics, armed and unarmed. The company’s flagship products are the Cerberus sUAS and the CODiAQ robotic quadruped fire support platforms.
The company currently has contract and sales with various defence forces in the world, including the Australian, US and UK defence forces and other foreign militaries.
About the Team
Skyborne has approximately 30 people across engineering, production, business development and operations.
About the role
Under the supervision of the Mechanical Engineering Lead, the successful applicant will undertake variety of activities to support mechanical design, testing and production aspects within the Company. The role will allow autonomy and leading of high-level engineering tasks.
As a graduate mechanical engineer you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
· Mechanical design using SolidWorks
· Design verification using FEA, CFD and other analysis tools.
· Prototype assembly and testing.
· Interact with subcontractors and contract manufacturers
· Assist production and program leads on production and quality assurance related tasks
· Support field testing and trials
What are we looking for?
Skyborne seeks applicants who have excelled at university and evidence of practical project skills (e.g. Formula SAE and other programs where practical prototypes must be built).
The applicant should positively contribute to the workplace environment where employees value each other, live up to their promises and communicate openly.
The experience and skillset best suited to this role include:
· Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
· 3D CAD experience (Solidworks preferred)
· GPA over 5.7 (minimum), 6.0 (preferred)
· Evidence of hands-on skills from projects such as Formula SAE, Major Design projects etc
· Practical knowledge of fits, tolerances and fastener torques etc
· Passion for innovation and to work in a rapid paced but rewarding environment
· Ability to focus on specific problems and prioritise tasks in order to deliver best value to the business and stakeholders
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen to meet Defence security requirements
· Eligibility and willingness to obtain an Australian Department of Defence security clearance
Additionally, it would be desirable that you have:
· Experience with tools such as the Atlassian Suite (JIRA & Confluence)
· QLD Firearms Licence
