Purpose of the Role
BGIS is looking for an experienced Finance Director to support the financial governance, commercial management, and reporting of a significant government property and facilities management portfolio. Reporting to the Executive Account Director, you will work closely with both client and BGIS teams to ensure financial activities, reporting, and contractual obligations are delivered accurately, transparently, and in line with agreed requirements.
This is a wonderful chance to help shape and strengthen the financial foundations of a newly awarded contract. You'll play a valued part in bringing structure, embedding thoughtful financial controls, and nurturing a collaborative finance team during an important establishment period.
The ideal candidate will be a calm, capable, and collaborative finance professional who enjoys bringing clarity to complexity. You'll combine technical expertise with a genuine ability to build trusted relationships, support and mentor your team, and help everyone across the account feel confident in the numbers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support financial governance across the contract, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements.
- Coordinate annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, cashflow management, and financial planning activities.
- Oversee the calculation and validation of contract fees, financial schedules, and fee components
- Manage the contract P&L; including analysis, monthly accruals, cash forecasts, unbilled revenue tracker, mirror journals, annual budgets and Quarterly forecasts
- Ensure accurate,
timely, and audit-ready financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual submissions.
- Manage monthly rent roll and reconciliation against client departments and tenants
- Manage AASB16 lease schedule reporting, journals, and annual reporting requirements for a portfolio of ~230 leased sites including multiple subleases.
- Prepare governance financial packs covering cost performance, forecasts, risk, and variance analysis.
- Help maintain financial data accuracy across BGIS systems and support correct cost allocation across department/tenants for all FM costs, Utilities and leasing transactions
- Use Power BI and digital tools to share financial insights, trend analysis, and performance reporting.
- Identify, monitor, and share financial risks while supporting value-for-money outcomes.
- Nurture positive relationships with client and internal stakeholders and share financial insights at governance forums.
- Support, coach, and mentor a collaborative finance team, encouraging accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- CA/CPA qualified or equivalent.
- Experience in FP&A;, financial management, or commercial analysis.
- Well-developed financial modelling skills (Excel, scenario tools, or Power BI data modelling).
- Confident using digital systems, technologies, and data-driven insights to improve ways of working.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial results for non-finance colleagues.
- Experience supporting and developing finance teams.
- Experience within facilities management, real estate, government, infrastructure, or complex service contracts.
- Warm and effective stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting newly established or mobilising contracts.
- Experience with AASB16 lease accounting and reporting.
- Exposure to Power BI, Power Automate, or workflow automation tools.
- Experience supporting financial governance within KPI-driven contract environments.
- A genuine interest in continuous improvement, innovation, and thoughtful use of technology.

To support your success, this position will initially be based from our Melbourne CBD office, conveniently located close to public transport and local amenities. Following training, you will enjoy a hybrid working arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.
