Perth Waterproofing & Silicone Solutions (PWSS)
Perth, Western Australia | Full time
Perth Waterproofing & Silicone Solutions is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operational performance of our growing construction business.
This is a senior, hands-on management position suited to someone who can manage multiple live projects, field crews, supervisors, scheduling, clients, materials and commercial issues simultaneously.
You do not need to personally solve every problem — but you must always know what is happening, who is responsible, what the deadline is and whether there is a risk to the business or client.
The Role
You will be responsible for overseeing the operational delivery of PWSS projects across Perth, ensuring jobs are properly staffed, scheduled, supplied, documented and completed profitably.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and reviewing all live projects across the business
- Coordinating supervisors, applicators and subcontractors
- Managing labour allocation and forward scheduling
- Ensuring the following day's schedule is confirmed and ready
- Monitoring project progress, delays and completion dates
- Identifying jobs requiring immediate management attention
- Forecasting labour requirements across upcoming projects
- Ensuring materials are ordered and available before crews attend site
- Managing communication with builders, site managers and key clients
- Monitoring RFIs, outstanding instructions and program commitments
- Identifying and escalating variations, labour overruns and material overruns
- Ensuring completed work and variations are captured for invoicing
- Monitoring defects, callbacks and rectification works
- Working with supervisors to maintain quality standards and documentation
- Ensuring ITPs, photographs, inspections and completion records are maintained
- Overseeing operational safety requirements and site compliance
- Managing vehicle,
equipment and operational asset requirements
- Running regular operational meetings with supervisors and office staff
- Maintaining a clear operational dashboard covering jobs, labour, delays, materials, defects and client issues
- Reporting directly to the company Directors on major operational and commercial risks
The Operations Manager will have visibility across every active job and will personally review projects requiring immediate management attention.
A major part of the position is forward planning. You will need to know where every crew is working, what they are doing next, which employees require supervision and what labour is required over the following weeks.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in construction operations, project delivery or field workforce management
- Highly organised and capable of managing numerous projects simultaneously
- Comfortable managing supervisors and a sizeable field workforce
- Strong with scheduling and resource allocation
- Commercially aware and able to recognise when a job is losing money
- Confident communicating with builders, project managers and clients
- Able to deal firmly and professionally with difficult site situations
- Proactive rather than reactive
- Strong at delegation and holding people accountable
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving construction environment
- Able to identify problems early rather than waiting for them to become emergencies
- Competent with operational software, reporting and digital documentation (we are using Simpro)
- Capable of working closely with directors, finance, scheduling and administration teams
Experience with Simpro, Jobber or similar construction/project-management software would be advantageous.
Experience within waterproofing, construction, building, tiling, concrete, remedial works, commercial trades or a similar subcontracting environment would also be highly regarded.
The Person We Need
This position will suit someone who naturally thinks ahead.
At any point, you should be able to answer:
- What jobs are running today?
- What is running tomorrow?
- Where is every crew?
- Which jobs are behind?
- What materials are required?
- Which clients need attention?
- What variations are outstanding?
- What defects or callbacks are open?
- Which projects have commercial risk?
- Who is responsible for resolving each issue?
PWSS already has supervisors and office support around the position. Your role is to lead and coordinate the operation, not become the person everybody relies on to personally fix every issue.
We need someone who can create structure, accountability and forward planning across the business.
Why Join PWSS?
PWSS is an established Perth construction subcontractor working across residential and commercial projects throughout Western Australia.
This is an opportunity to step into a genuine senior management position with significant responsibility and the ability to have a direct impact on how the company operates and grows.
