Biosecurity & Customs Coordinator – Hemmant

$80,000 – $93,000 + Super | Full-Time | 7:00am Start | 38-Hour Week

Salary dependent on experience and level of training required

Based at our Hemmant Site

South East Queensland Hauliers (SEQH) is looking for a highly organised, proactive and customer-focused Biosecurity & Customs Coordinator to join our team at Hemmant.

This is a varied and key role supporting our biosecurity, customs, container and customer operations. You will work closely with customers, customs brokers, freight forwarders and our internal warehouse, transport, wash bay and operations teams to keep cargo moving efficiently and ensure requirements are met.

No two days are the same, and you'll need to be comfortable working in a rapid-paced environment where priorities can change throughout the day.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

- Coordinating biosecurity and customs requirements for incoming containers and cargo

- Coordinating container bookings, inspections and clearance

- Liaising with customs brokers, freight forwarders and customers

- Monitoring incoming cargo and ensuring required processes are followed

- Coordinating biosecurity inspections and container unpack requirements

- Coordinating fumigation and wash bay requirements

- Coordinating container washing and clearance

- Managing customs and biosecurity documentation

- Following up customs, biosecurity and operational issues

- Keeping customers informed of container and cargo status

- Resolving customer-related issues and enquiries

- Coordinating Special Freight requirements





- Working closely with warehouse, transport and operations teams

- Maintaining accurate records and systems

- Completing administrative and compliance requirements

- Assisting with audits and compliance activities

- Managing daily deadlines and competing priorities

- Providing support across the operation when required

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

- An excellent communicator

- Confident dealing with customers and different departments

- Strong with administration and computer systems

- Excellent at time management and prioritising tasks

- Comfortable working under pressure and meeting deadlines

- A strong problem solver

- Able to manage multiple tasks at the same time

- A genuine team player

- Proactive and willing to learn

- Confident following up issues and seeing them through to completion

- Comfortable working in a busy logistics environment

Experience in customs, biosecurity, freight forwarding, transport, logistics, warehousing, shipping or container operations will be highly regarded.

Training & Support

Good training and ongoing support will be provided.





We understand that the right person may not have experience in every aspect of the role. The successful candidate will receive training and support to learn our systems, processes and operational requirements.

Salary will be determined based on your previous experience, existing knowledge and the level of training required to get you fully up to speed in the role.

We are looking for someone with the right attitude, strong communication and administration skills, and a willingness to learn and develop.

Flexibility

This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week, with a 7:00am start.

Finish times may vary depending on the operational requirements of the day. You will need to be flexible and understand that the workload can change depending on customer requirements, cargo movements, inspections and daily deadlines.
