Are you looking for an opportunity to step into an important operational role and contribute to critical water monitoring services across southern Victoria? If yes, the Hydrometric Monitoring Coordinator could be the perfect role for you!

The Hydrometrics Monitoring Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that Southern Rural Water operates and maintains a reliable and fit for purpose surface water monitoring network across southern Victoria.

In this role, you will coordinate SRW’s standalone surface water monitoring contracts and support SRW’s interests under the Regional Surface Water Monitoring Partnership. Working closely with contractors, stakeholders and internal teams, you will ensure hydrometric infrastructure and data systems operate effectively, meet required service levels and legislative obligations.

You will also play an important role in overseeing SRW’s bulk entitlement reporting and compliance requirements, including maintaining the Bulk Entitlement Management System. The role will also contribute to a range of organisation wide functions, including flood emergency preparedness and response, dam safety management and nutrient monitoring.

About you

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:





- Tertiary qualification in hydrology, water resources or related discipline.
- ​​​​​​​Knowledge and practical understanding of surface water monitoring techniques, hydrometric infrastructure, monitoring technologies and associated data systems.
- Understanding of irrigation and headworks operations, including the management of associated infrastructure and systems.
- Understanding of Victoria’s emergency management framework, including the importance of reliable, real time surface water monitoring data during water related emergencies such as floods, contamination and dam safety events.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage contracts effectively.
