About the Role:
As the Youth Transition Officer, you will build solid relationships with young people and families who may be involved or at risk of being involved in the Youth Justice System.
The Youth Transition Officer works closely with Court Liaison Officers and other regional staff involved in student engagement and re-engagement.
Key to the role will be your ability to develop a strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedure across education and youth justice contexts,
including operation of the Childrens Court and multi-agency cooperative forums.
This knowledge, alongside strong connections to alternative educational providers, experience in working collaboratively with state school leadership teams, and an enhanced ability to assess young people's educational and support needs, and to scaffold their reintegration into an appropriate education pathway.
Evidenced experience in working with families that are Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander and, more broadly, culturally diverse will be key in your daily work.
