About the role
This is a hands-on commercial role, not a corporate management position. You'll work across the project portfolio supporting delivery teams with the commercial and contractual matters that inevitably arise on complex civil construction projects. A major focus will be ensuring teams are administering their contracts properly — early, accurately and proactively.
Key responsibilities
Support Project Managers and Operations Managers with day-to-day commercial and contractual matters
Provide solid contract administration oversight across multiple civil projects
Review head contracts and clearly communicate key obligations, risks and opportunities to project teams
Assist with variations, claims, EOTs, notices and contractual correspondence
Ensure contractual notices and entitlements are identified and actioned within required timeframes
Support project teams with subcontractor commercial and contractual matters
Assist with difficult negotiations, claims and disputes
Review project commercial performance and identify emerging risks early
Work with PMs on forecasting, cost-to-complete and margin protection
Provide practical commercial advice that helps teams make better decisions on the ground
About you
Significant commercial or contract administration experience within civil construction
Strong knowledge of Australian construction contracts
Extensive experience with variations, EOTs, notices, claims and contractual correspondence
Experience working directly with Project Managers and operational teams
Robust understanding of project cost management and forecasting
The ability to quickly interpret complex contracts and identify commercial risk
Robust written communication and contractual correspondence skills
Confidence dealing with clients, consultants and subcontractors
A practical, solutions-focused approach to commercial management
