About the role
S and L McPhee Cabinetmakers is seeking a skilled and experiencedCabinetmakerto join our established team in Cairns, Queensland.
This is afull-time positionbased at our Cairns workshop (QLD ****).
As a Cabinetmaker, you will play a crucial high-quality custom cabinetry and joinery work that meets our clients' exacting standards.
This position offers the chance to work on diverse projects, from residential kitchens and bathrooms.
Key responsibilities
Design and construct custom cabinetry and joinery pieces using hand tools, power tools and machinery
Read and interpret technical drawings and client specifications to ensure accurate project delivery
Operate cabinet-making machinery including table saws, planers, routers, sanders safely and effectively
Assemble, fit and finish cabinetry.
Install completed cabinetry at client locations, taking measurements and making on-site adjustments as needed
Maintain workshop tools, machinery and equipment in good working order
Collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines whilst maintaining quality standards
Adhere to health and safety regulations and workshop practices
What we're looking for
Formal qualification in cabinetmaking, furniture making or joinery (tradesperson or equivalent)
Demonstrated experience working as a professional cabinetmaker, ideally with 3+ years in the industry
Advanced proficiency with hand tools and traditional cabinetmaking techniques




Strong competency in operating woodworking machinery and power tools safely
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing work of the highest quality
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to custom project requirements
Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Current understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
Valid driver's licence is desirable for potential site visits
