Job Description
Want the quality and complexity of disputes work without the billable expectations and hierarchy of a larger firm?
n
This specialist Sydney boutique of 5–10 lawyers offers a genuinely different model: engaging commercial, professional negligence and employment disputes, direct access to a highly regarded Director, and the autonomy to take real ownership of your matters.
n
With realistic 4-hour daily billable expectations, commission opportunities and flexible working, it's an excellent option for a disputes lawyer who wants strong work, greater responsibility and a genuinely respected work-life balance.
n
About the Firm
n
This is a small, specialist disputes practice with a strong reputation in the Sydney market.
n
Led by a highly regarded Director, the firm acts across a broad range of commercial and employment disputes, with particular experience in professional negligence claims involving lawyers, underpayment matters and complex business disputes.
n
Being a genuinely small team, lawyers work directly with the Director and have the opportunity to take on significantly more responsibility and client exposure than they may receive within a larger firm.
n
The Role
n
You'll work across a varied disputes practice, including:
n
n
Professional negligence claims, particularly involving lawyers
n
Business and contractual disputes
n
Shareholder and director disputes
n
Employment disputes and litigation
n
Underpayment and wage-related claims
n
Debt recovery and enforcement matters
n
Urgent applications and general commercial litigation
n
n
The role can be shaped around your interests. If you want to remain predominantly focused on commercial disputes, the firm is very happy to support that.
n
Alternatively, if you'd like to broaden your practice into employment law, the Director is open to training and mentoring a strong commercial disputes lawyer who wants to develop expertise in this area.
n
About You
n
2+ years PAE
n
Experience in commercial litigation, disputes or employment law
n
Strong drafting and client management skills
n
Comfortable taking ownership of matters
n
Commercially minded and proactive

n
n
Realistic 4-hour daily billable expectations
n
Competitive salary plus commission opportunities
n
Interesting professional negligence, business and employment disputes

n
If you're a commercial disputes lawyer looking for quality work, greater autonomy and realistic expectations around billables, this is well worth exploring.
