Department of Justice and Community Safety VIC – Malmsbury VIC

As an industry officer at Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct, you will support young people to build work skills, routines and confidence. You will do this in a safe, structured custodial environment with robust team support.

You will:
n
n
train and supervise young people in industries, vocational training and work programs
n
coach young people through daily routines, teamwork and positive behaviour.
n
role-model respectful relationships and pro-social behaviour
n
maintain safety through searches, supervision and dynamic risk assessment.
n
n
Our Industries team work on rostered shifts which will include some nights and weekends.
n
About you
n
We're looking for people with experience in horticulture, hospitality or warehousing to grow Malmsbury as a centre for education, enabling young people to find meaningful work when they return to the community.
You must hold, or be willing to obtain, required clearances before starting. This includes a Working with Children Check and first aid qualification. You will also complete a fully funded Certificate IV in Youth Justice as part of your role.

You should also have:
n
n
relevant industry or trade experience, with strong safety knowledge
n
the ability to teach safe use of tools, machinery and equipment
n
confidence using computer systems for records and reporting
n
a collaborative approach and respect for diverse backgrounds.
n
n
