We are looking for a motivated and skilled Senior Technical Writer to join our high-performing team in delivering explicit, accurate, and high-quality technical documentation to support mission-critical defence systems.
n
Reporting to the Technical Publications Team Lead, you will develop and maintain workflows to ensure consistent and accurate technical publications. In this role you will of technical publications and support/mentor the Technical Writing team members.
n
Our ideal candidate is a collaborative and detail-orientated Senior Technical Writer with S****D experience, within a Defence Environment, who brings a passion for continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities
n
As a key member of our technical documentation team, you will:
n
n
Develop operator and maintainer manuals with minimal supervision.
n
Develop and maintain Work Instructions and Style Guides to ensure consistency across our publications.
n
Lead documentation initiatives including peer reviews and quality assurance of technical publications.
n
Collaborate with engineers, developers, and other stakeholders to gather source information and deliver customer-aligned content.
n
Provide mentorship and training to junior writers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
n
Contribute to tender submissions and estimate writing efforts as needed.
n
Ensure documentation aligns with defence standards and integrates seamlessly with ILS and LSA outputs.

About you
n
Experience & Skills
n
n
Minimum seven years' experience in a Technical Writing role in defence, manufacturing, engineering, or technology sectors.
n
Experience with S****D publication development.
n
Experience with developing and editing large and/or complex documents to an advanced level in Microsoft Word, Adobe FrameMaker and/orS****D tools.
n
Proficiency with PDF editing, graphics tools, and configuration management processes.
n
Understand methodologies for the development of documentation for hardware and software manuals.
n
Experience with implementing Defence documentation practices and standards.
n
Familiarity with web-based publishing and online help content creation.
n

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
