About the role
As a Leading Hand Carpenter / 2IC, you will lead and coordinate day-to-day site operations across multiple renovation and maintenance projects.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys remaining on the tools while taking a leadership role in coordinating projects, supporting the General Manager, and ensuring jobs are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
Lead and coordinate day-to-day site operations across multiple renovation and maintenance projects
Work closely with the General Manager to plan works, manage project timelines, allocate resources and ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope
Supervise and mentor apprentices and tradespeople, providing guidance and maintaining high standards of workmanship
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication and seamless project delivery
Perform all aspects of residential and commercial carpentry, including site set out to fix out, renovations and maintenance works
Read, interpret and execute works from construction drawings, architectural plans and specifications
Coordinate material orders, deliveries and site logistics to minimise delays
Monitor quality control, identify and resolve on-site issues, and proactively manage project risks
Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company policies and industry best practice
Complete site documentation, progress updates and project records accurately and on time
Assist with quoting, site inspections, and project planning where required
About you
Qualified Carpenter with relevant trade qualifications
Builder's Licence or willingness to obtain will be highly regarded
Minimum 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in residential renovations
Previous experience in a Leading Hand, Site Supervisor or similar role is highly regarded
Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities
Ability to build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors and team members
High attention to detail with a commitment to delivering quality outcomes
Sound understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices
Ownership of a comprehensive set of carpentry hand and power tools
