Our client is an established national commercial contractor with more than 20 years' experience delivering fit-out, refurbishment and construction projects across Australia.
n
The business operates nationally and has developed long-standing relationships with some of Australia's largest retailers, delivering projects across retail, hospitality, education and commercial sectors.
n
They have particular expertise in supermarket refurbishments and upgrades, including complex staged projects undertaken while stores remain operational.
n
With a strong pipeline of projects across Queensland, they're looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to join their Brisbane team.
n
The Opportunity
n
Based in Brisbane, you'll take ownership of supermarket refurbishment, refresh and upgrade projects from mobilisation through to handover.
n
A key part of the role is successfully delivering construction works within live trading environments. Sections of a supermarket may be closed for construction while the remainder of the store continues operating, requiring careful management of safety, staging, access, dust, noise, deliveries, subcontractors and the general public.
n
You'll work closely with the Project Manager, client representatives, store management and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to store operations.
n
While the position is Brisbane-based, flexibility is important. The business regularly delivers projects throughout regional Queensland, so there will be occasions where you'll need to work away from Brisbane.
n
Similarly, due to the nature of supermarket construction, certain works need to be undertaken outside trading hours.



Night shifts and after-hours work will therefore be required from time to time, although this won't necessarily be the permanent working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Take ownership of supermarket refurbishment and upgrade projects from mobilisation through to handover
n
Manage subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel
n
Coordinate staged construction works within live trading environments
n
Drive programme, safety and quality across your projects
n
Manage public interfaces and minimise disruption to supermarket operations
n
Coordinate dust and noise control, access, deliveries and temporary work areas
n
Liaise closely with Project Managers, clients and store management
n
Manage site documentation, inductions, SWMS, QA and daily reporting
n
Identify construction and programme issues early and implement practical solutions
n
Coordinate after-hours and night works when required
n
Manage regional Queensland projects and work away from Brisbane when required
n

About You
n
We're particularly interested in Site Managers who understand the additional planning and communication required when delivering construction within a live supermarket workplace.
n
You'll ideally have:
n
n
Minimum 5 years' Site Management experience within commercial construction, fit-out or refurbishment
n
Previous supermarket refurbishment or upgrade experience highly regarded
n
Proven experience delivering projects within live operational environments
n




Strong understanding of site safety and working around members of the public
n
Experience managing staged construction, dust and noise control and operational interfaces
n
Strong programming and subcontractor management capability
n
Excellent communication and client-facing skills
n
Experience using Procore or similar construction management software
n
Current White Card
n
EWP and forklift tickets highly regarded
n
Trade background or Construction Management qualification advantageous
n
Professional, proactive and solutions-focused approach
n
Flexibility to undertake night shifts and after-hours works from time to time
n
Willingness to travel and work on regional Queensland projects when required
n
