We're looking for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join O'Brien on a 12-month fixed-term contract, partnering across Finance and the business to drive accuracy, insights, and continuous improvement.
n
About the Role
n
Reporting into the Finance leadership team, you will take ownership of key financial reporting processes while supporting a large-scale IT transformation.
n
This is a hands-on role where you'll balance technical accounting, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Lead the preparation of statutory accounts, year-end audit, and tax compliance (income tax & FBT)
n
Support and strengthen the financial control framework during an ongoing IT transformation
n
Perform month-end close, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
n
Own and deliver accurate balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies
n
Partner with stakeholders to drive accurate accruals and month-end outcomes
n
Prepare and analyse the 14-week rolling cash flow forecast
n
Take ownership of the stock accounting process, including forecasting and variance analysis
n
Collaborate across Finance, including AP, AR, commercial teams, and branches
n
Mentor and support a small team (1 Accountant, 2 Assistant Accountants)
n
Drive process improvements and best practice financial discipline across divisions
n

About You
n
You're a technically strong accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys improving systems and processes.
n
Key Requirements
n
n
Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline
n
5+ years' experience in a similar financial accounting role
n
Strong understanding of financial reporting, controls, and compliance
n
Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
n
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
n
Strong analytical mindset with a proactive, solutions-focused approach
n
