As Principal Hydrogeologist, you'll:
n
n
Lead high-profile groundwater investigations.
n
Deliver complex projects across mining, infrastructure, and environmental sectors.
n
Build trusted client relationships and drive business growth
n
Mentor the next generation of hydrogeologists.
n
Collaborate with world-class scientists and technical specialists to deliver practical, science-based solutions
n
n
This is a full time role reporting to the Director / Technical Lead in Brisbane.
n
Key Responsibilities:
n
Lead the development and delivery of hydrogeological investigations.
n
Oversee groundwater modelling using industry-standard tools (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW, AQTESOLVE) for dewatering, water supply, and impact assessments.
n
Prepare and review high-quality technical reports, proposals, and regulatory submissions.
n
Manage multidisciplinary projects, including scope, budget, timelines, and client communication.
n
Undertake site visits, field supervision, and stakeholder engagement as required.
n
Support business development through proposal writing, client relationship management, and identification of recent opportunities.
n
Mentor junior and mid-level hydrogeologists, fostering technical excellence and professional development.
n
Promote the company brand through conferences, industry events, and professional networks.
n
Ensure compliance with all HSE, quality, and professional conduct requirements.
n
About You!
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
Bachelor's degree or higher in Hydrogeology,
Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
n
***** + years' experience in hydrogeology, ideally within consulting, mining, or infrastructure sectors.
n
Proven track record leading complex groundwater projects and managing key client relationships.
n
Strong technical expertise in groundwater assessment, aquifer testing, hydrogeological interpretation, and groundwater modelling (MODFLOW, FEFLOW or similar).
n
Experience designing and managing groundwater monitoring programs and field investigations.
n
Sound knowledge of groundwater licensing, environmental approvals, and regulatory frameworks in Queensland (WA/NT experience advantageous).
n
Understanding of groundwater–surface water interactions, mine dewatering, water supply assessments, and impact assessments.
n
Excellent communication and report writing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
n
Commercially minded, with experience supporting business development and strategic growth initiatives.
n
Committed to safety, quality, and professional excellence.
n
Highly Regarded:
n
Experience with hydro-geochemistry and tools such as PHREEQC.
n
Proficiency in GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS).
n
Exposure to mine closure planning, water balance modelling, or integrated water management.
n
Established industry network and a demonstrated ability to win and grow client relationships!
