Iberdrola is now recruiting for a Senior Power Systems Engineer to be based ideally from their Melbourne office. Sydney and Brisbane locations are also possible.

About the Role
n
Reporting to the Senior Manager - Power Systems, this role will provide technical leadership in grid connection strategy, power system analysis and modelling requirements across the project portfolio.
n
Some specific responsibilities include:
n
n
Develop and maintain advanced power system models, templates,
and automation tools to improve efficiency and consistency.
n
Drive best practices, continuous improvement, and industry-leading standards within the Grid Integration & Control team.
n
Manage grid connection processes in accordance with business objectives and the National Electricity Rules (NER).
n
Perform and review PSSE, PSCAD and PowerFactory studies, including load flow, fault, harmonic and dynamic performance assessments.
n
Provide expert technical advice for project development, acquisitions, delivery, construction activities and operational assets.
n
Lead grid connection workstreams for current developments and acquisitions, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
n
Manage external consultants and contractors delivering power system studies, modelling, design and technical reports.
n
Coordinate technical and commercial interfaces with AEMO, NSPs, regulators and other key stakeholders throughout the connection process.
n
Develop connection and operational technology (OT) requirements and specifications for inclusion in major project contracts.
n
Oversee commissioning activities, including registration, R2 validation, performance testing and handover to Operations.
n
Assess and optimise plant control settings to achieve operational objectives while maintaining GPS compliance.
n
Prepare generator registration applications,
generation licence submissions and associated regulatory documentation.
n
Identify, communicate and manage project risks related to grid connection activities, including technical, commercial and schedule impacts.

About You
n
To be successful in this role you will have relevant qualifications and strong experience in electrical or power systems engineering, power systems modelling and analysis for renewable energy projects.
n
Your excellent interpersonal skills allow you to build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, resulting in exceptional performance.
n
You will bring
n
n
A Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or an equivalent discipline
n
Experience in power system modelling for renewable energy projects within the NEM
n
Experience managing the connection application process with NSP/AEMO.
n
Detailed knowledge of electrical power system modelling and analysis tools (such as PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory and Python).
n
Advanced proficiency in Python scripting for power system modelling, automation, data analysis and visualisation, including the development and maintenance of industry-standard analysis tools.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
n
n
Australian network experience and familiarity with AEMO requirements, and the National Electricity Rules will be highly regarded.
