Job Description
Our client is the Australian branch of a foreign-owned Authorised Deposit-taking Institution (ADI), growing its Sydney presence. They're looking for a Risk Officer to join a small, high-visibility team, with broad exposure across credit, market, liquidity and operational risk, and close involvement with Head Office.

The Role
n
You'll play a central role in strengthening governance and risk frameworks across the branch's Australian operations, working cross-functionally with business units and Head Office stakeholders to identify, assess and manage risk exposures.

Key responsibilities include:
n
n
Assessing credit, market, liquidity and operational risk exposures across the business
n
Monitoring portfolio exposures and higher-risk accounts, and supporting risk appetite/limit monitoring via MIS reporting
n
Contributing to risk analysis reporting and control effectiveness reviews
n
Providing practical, business-aligned risk and compliance advice to stakeholders
n
Assisting with reviews and updates to risk frameworks, policies and procedures
n
Helping ensure risk activities align with APRA and ASIC requirements and Head Office standards
n
Liaising across risk, compliance and audit functions on regulatory reporting and breach management
n




Partnering with IT on risk data, modelling and system reporting
n

About You
n
n
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics or related discipline
n
Australian citizen, permanent resident, NZ citizen, or valid Australian work rights
n
1–3+ years' experience in risk and/or compliance within Australian banking or financial services — ADI experience highly regarded
n
Experience across credit, market, liquidity and operational risks
n
FRM certification or a
Diploma/Certificate
in Risk Management is an advantage
n
Solid understanding of risk frameworks and compliance obligations, including APRA Prudential Standards
n
Strong stakeholder management skills, high attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication
n
